Argyle ISD Locks Up 128 Acres in Northlake for a Future Secondary Campus

If you live near Robson Ranch Road or you're moving into one of the new Northlake subdivisions, here's what this means for your kids: a secondary campus is now part of the long-range plan for that corridor. The land is bought. The site is locked.

Argyle ISD closed on 128 acres just south of Robson Ranch Road last fall, with the board approving the purchase at a special meeting on October 30, 2025. The parcel — acquired with 2025 bond funds and designated for a future secondary campus — runs along the southern edge of Robson Ranch Road in a part of the district that puts it northwest of Jane Ruestmann Elementary, one of the district's newest schools and already running crowded.

This is the district's second land buy for future campuses. Argyle ISD also holds 50 acres in Furst Ranch along the east frontage of U.S. Highway 377, earmarked for a future elementary and middle school. With ground secured in both the southeast and northwest corners of the district, the district has options it didn't have before.

That matters more than it might sound. Until last year, Argyle ISD owned no property for future schools anywhere within its roughly 35-square-mile boundary, which stretches across five municipalities. Land is getting harder to find. Developers are moving fast, and landowners who aren't ready to sell now may not be later. The district's strategy is straightforward: buy before the window closes.

The enrollment picture explains the urgency. Argyle ISD currently serves 6,200 students in Pre-K through 12th grade and has averaged 12% annual enrollment growth over the past five years. The district projects nearly 10,000 students by 2030.

Funding came from Proposition A of the May 2025 bond, which passed with 65.73% of the vote. The full proposition totaled $393.7 million and covers land acquisition, new school construction, capital improvements, buses, and technology infrastructure.

No construction timeline or price tag for the Northlake campus has been set. For now this is land banking — the district holds the site until enrollment numbers and bond capacity line up. Superintendent Courtney Carpenter said the district "continue[s] to plan strategically to accommodate the rapid growth in our community."
