Place 7 on the Argyle ISD Board Has a New Member — a Familiar One

If you follow Argyle ISD decisions on budgets, staffing, or facilities, the board is back to seven members and voting at full strength.

Josh Westrom resigned from Place 7, leaving the seat open. The district had three options: hold a special election, leave the seat empty until the next scheduled vote, or appoint someone. Board President Leigh Ann Artho's office noted that a special election would cost the district significantly, so the board opened the vacancy to appointments instead.

They picked someone who already knows the building.

Sam Slaton is a former Argyle ISD board member who previously served as board president. The seat runs through May 2027, when voters will elect a candidate.

The board meets monthly at the AISD Board Room, 6701 Canyon Falls Drive in Flower Mound. Meetings are open to the public, and any regular or special meeting with action items is live-streamed and archived on the district's YouTube channel. That's the easiest way to track how Slaton votes between now and May 2027.
