Argyle ISD's Superintendent Is Headed to Glen Rose — Here's the Timeline

If your kids are in Argyle ISD, the district's top job is about to be open.

Glen Rose Independent School District, southwest of Fort Worth, has selected Dr. Courtney Carpenter as its lone finalist to lead the district — a decision the Glen Rose ISD board made official at its Oct. 22 meeting. Carpenter currently serves as superintendent of Argyle ISD.

Texas law requires a 21-day waiting period before the Glen Rose ISD Board of Trustees can officially appoint her. That window closes Wednesday, Nov. 12.

The Argyle ISD release left little ambiguity. The district closed its announcement by wishing Carpenter "continued success in Glen Rose ISD" — language that reads as a farewell, not a maybe.

Carpenter joined Argyle ISD in July 2023. Her own words in the release read like a closing chapter. "Serving Argyle ISD over the past three years has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my career," she said. "I am incredibly grateful to the Argyle ISD community and proud of what we have accomplished together."

For Argyle families: no interim or successor has been named, and the board has not announced a search timeline. A mid-year departure means the board will need to move quickly on recruitment. Watch for a board statement on the transition plan in the weeks ahead.

On the Glen Rose side, the board cannot make a formal appointment until that 21-day window closes — Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the earliest.
