Argyle's Farmers Market Finally Gets a Real Address

If you've ever hauled a reusable bag to the backyard of Argyle Party and Gift on a second Saturday, you know the drill: find parking on 377, hope the setup held together, enjoy it while it lasts. That ritual just got a permanent upgrade.

Argyle broke ground on Argyle Marketplace, a three-building retail and office development at 403 U.S. Highway 377. The headline feature for anyone who's been showing up on market Saturdays: the development will include a dedicated home for the Argyle Farmers Market, along with public restrooms, landscaping, pedestrian connections, and access to the future Argyle Nature Trail. No more borrowed backyard. No more breaking it all down by noon.

The three-building project is being built by Colo Development Partners and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. A real deadline, not a vague promise.

The market has always operated out of necessity rather than design. Market founder Emily Holt put it plainly: "There had been a lot of Facebook posts asking for a farmers market, and the challenge with Argyle is people don't have a place to do things. We don't have a town square or any place to gather." That quote is two years old and still describes exactly why this groundbreaking matters more than a standard ribbon-cutting. A permanent address gives vendors something to plan around. It gives regular shoppers — the ones driving in from Flower Mound, Northlake, and the Harvest communities — a fixed point on the map.

Mayor Ron Schmidt called it "community-minded development that strengthens our town while preserving the character that residents value." Town Manager Mike Sims added that the marketplace "will provide permanent community amenities and generate sales tax revenue that benefits residents while reducing reliance on property taxes." Identity and revenue. Both things are true at once.

Here's the honest caveat: retail and office tenants have not yet been confirmed. The farmers market is the anchor. Whether retail and office components fill in around it — and draw the foot traffic that makes mixed-use development actually work — is still an open question. Neighboring restaurants like Little Joe's Farmstead, Hurtado BBQ, and Quandary Kitchen & Market are already on that stretch of 377, with Hurtado and Quandary both having opened within the past year, so the corridor has momentum. Empty storefronts next to a thriving market, though, would undercut the whole thing fast.

Watch the tenant announcements. Watch whether the construction timeline holds. And watch whether the vendors who've made this market work under makeshift conditions are still there when the permanent home finally opens.
