Bulk Trash Pickup Pauses Nov. 30 — Here's Where Your Yard Waste Goes Until Dec. 14

The two-week gap has a free option: up to 10 cubic yards at the Camelot Landfill, no charge, just bring proof of residency.

If you're doing fall yard cleanup before the end of November, get your bulk items to the curb before your regular pickup day this week. Starting November 30, the weekly bulk trash run stops and doesn't come back until Monday, December 14.

That two-week pause is intentional. The Town is launching a Seasonal Green Waste Recycling Program, under which Republic Services will collect green waste — brush, leaves, grass clippings, weeds, and similar yard debris — for recycling twice a year, typically once in spring and once in fall. Flower Mound's first seasonal green waste recycling period runs Monday, November 30, through Friday, December 11. Set your green waste out on whichever days your trash and recycling are normally picked up. It does need to go in paper lawn bags or a personal, reusable container labeled "Green Waste" to qualify for recycling collection.

Here's the catch: during that window, bulk trash won't be collected. Bulk means anything that doesn't fit inside your regular trash cart — furniture, appliances, extra bags, that kind of thing.

So what do you do with bulk items between now and December 14? Three options. Hold onto it until bulk pickup resumes on Monday, December 14. Take up to 10 cubic yards to the Camelot Landfill at 580 Huffines Blvd. and dump for free with proof of Flower Mound residency. Or call 972.539.SERV (7378) to request a special pickup for a fee.

The landfill is worth knowing about regardless of the pause. Flower Mound residents can make one trip per month with up to 10 cubic yards of waste at no charge. Contact the landfill directly for current hours and accepted forms of proof of residency before you make the trip.

One prep note if you're participating in the green waste recycling window: tree limbs must be cut and tied into bundles — check the Town's official guidance for the exact size and weight requirements. And once the recycling period ends, the old rules apply — yard debris goes out with bulk trash throughout the rest of the year and heads to the landfill.

Short version: get bulk items to the curb before November 30, haul green waste in paper bags or a labeled container from November 30 through December 11, and remember that Camelot Landfill is your free fallback for anything that doesn't fit the recycling window.
