Your county property tax rate dropped this year. Small drop, but it's real, and the full budget behind it is now posted as an official public document at dentoncounty.gov.

Commissioners Court adopted the FY 2026 Denton County budget on September 9, 2025. The new rate is $0.185938 per $100 of assessed value, down from last year's $0.187869 — a reduction of roughly 1%. On a home appraised at $510,263, which was the county average at adoption, that works out to about $949 for the county's share of the annual tax bill.

The total budget came to $452,153,186. The full breakdown of how that spending is allocated across departments and functions is posted at dentoncounty.gov under Adopted Budgets.

One number worth keeping in mind: the county's share of a typical Denton County property tax bill runs about 10 percent of the total. School district rates and city rates make up the bulk of what you actually owe. A lower county rate does not mean a lower overall bill. It's one piece.

Both the adopted tax rate document and the budget adoption vote record are publicly posted. Find them at dentoncounty.gov under Adopted Budgets.
