Early Voting Is Open Through Oct. 30 for Flower Mound's Street Tax Renewal
Five polling spots in town, no change to your 8.25% rate either way — just a question of whether the quarter-cent keeps going to roads.

You can cast your ballot right now. Early voting for Flower Mound's November 3 special election opened Monday, Oct. 19, and runs through Friday, Oct. 30.
The ballot has exactly one question: should the town keep dedicating one-fourth of one percent of the local sales tax to street maintenance for another four years? Residents will decide whether to continue directing that quarter-cent slice to street maintenance and specific capital improvement projects. That money covers full-depth pavement reconstruction, concrete panel replacements, asphalt milling and overlays, pothole patching, crack sealing, and snow and ice removal.

The rate question is simpler than it sounds. If voters reauthorize the Street Maintenance Dedicated Sales Tax, Flower Mound's sales tax rate stays at 8.25 percent. A no vote doesn't lower it either. The rate holds at 8.25 percent no matter the outcome. The only thing the ballot decides is what happens to that dedicated quarter-cent slice.
As FloMoBee reported earlier this month, Flower Mound voters have been asked this question before. Texas law requires the tax to go back to voters or it expires. It cannot renew on its own.
