If you've been watching the shopping center vacancies on Long Prairie Road, the Texas Comptroller's public permit database had some news for you this week.

Five businesses filed for Flower Mound sales-tax permits in October, according to the state's Active Sales Tax Permit Holders dataset at data.texas.gov. Two names on that list come with specific first-sales dates: Hammer & Nails at 5801 Long Prairie Road, Suite 120, with November 1 listed as its first day of sales, and Miracle Millets at 617 Sandy Lane, with December 1 as its filed start date. Crown & Sole, a footwear shop, filed with a November 3 date. Two others — Portlevel and Mhw Creates — came in on October 10 and 24, respectively, though their concepts aren't detailed in the filing data.

For Hammer & Nails, this is a real milestone: the men's grooming franchise now has an actual date on the state's books. The brand runs a membership-based model — members pay monthly dues and get a set number of services — covering haircuts, beard grooming, straight-razor shaves, manicures, and pedicures in a lounge-style interior with leather chairs and complimentary beverages. Walk-ins are welcome too, but the membership side is the core. Check hammerandnailsgrooming.com for the official launch announcement before planning your first visit.

Miracle Millets is a name that won't ring a bell for most residents. Nothing in the local public record explains the concept beyond the permit filing itself. Sandy Lane sits in the older western stretch of town near Glenwick. The December 1 date is filed, not announced.

A word on what these permits actually mean. A sales-tax permit is filed with the Texas Comptroller before a business begins collecting tax on sales. It signals a lease is locked and an opening date is real enough to put on a government form. It doesn't guarantee a tenant opens exactly on that date, but it's a harder data point than a ribbon-cutting announcement or a "Coming Soon" sign in a window.

Portlevel and Mhw Creates haven't surfaced in any local coverage yet. The permit filings alone don't reveal what they sell or where, exactly, they'll land. If you spot either name on a storefront, that's worth knowing.

Anyone can search the full dataset. Head to data.texas.gov, search "Active Sales Tax Permit Holders," filter by city for Flower Mound, and sort by issue date. New permits post on a rolling basis — it's the cleanest early-warning system for what's coming to town before a grand opening press release ever goes out.
