Your Fall Evenings Just Got a Lot More Interesting

If you have walked Flower Mound’s trails a hundred times in daylight, try seeing them after dark. The Town’s Environmental Services department is hosting two guided night hikes through local natural areas, with guides helping participants learn about the flora and fauna found along the trails.

The first hike begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20. Called Trails and Treats, the Halloween-themed walk will take participants through Glenwick Park. Costumes are welcome, and sweet treats will be available along the way.

Glenwick Park is located at 4100 Weldon Drive, but the Town recommends parking near the pickleball courts at 3307 Cross Timbers Road or at Westchester Park, 3917 Churchill Drive. Trail guides wearing orange vests will meet participants on the trail southeast of the tennis and pickleball courts.

A second hike, Walk with Nature, begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Heritage Park, 600 Spinks Road. Participants can park around the park and meet the guides near the beginning of the Gary Sims Wildlife Encounter Trail.

The guided walks offer residents a chance to explore Flower Mound’s trail system after dark while learning more about the plants and wildlife found in the area.
