The rate holds — but your bill can still move if your appraisal did.

Your property tax rate isn't going up. That's the short version of Flower Mound's proposed FY2026-27 budget, which the town released this month.

The full proposed budget is now posted at flowermound.gov/proposedbudget, and it holds the property tax rate at $0.387277 per $100 of assessed valuation, focused largely on capital improvement projects.

The flat rate is real. What it doesn't guarantee is a flat tax bill. If the Denton Central Appraisal District raised your home's assessed value this year, you'll pay more — same rate, higher base. That math lives at the appraisal district, not at Town Hall.

The budget also continues the town's 20% homestead exemption and preserves an exemption for homeowners who are 65 or older or have a qualifying disability. Both reduce the taxable value before the rate ever touches it.

The town points to updated revenue estimates, months of budget planning, and cost-saving efforts for a financial outlook that came in stronger than originally projected. At the same time, town officials acknowledge that climbing costs and state-imposed caps on how much property tax revenue can grow year-to-year continue to squeeze the budget.

If you want to say something before the numbers are locked in, the public hearing on the tax rate is your formal on-the-record moment to weigh in. Check flowermound.gov/proposedbudget for the confirmed date, time, and location of the hearing and council vote. Once council votes, the rate and spending plan are set.
