Flower Mound's Mandatory Watering Schedule: Two Days a Week, Your Address Decides Which Ones

Before you set your sprinkler timer tonight, look at your address. That last digit determines your watering days — and if your system is running on the wrong ones, you're out of compliance with Flower Mound's mandatory conservation schedule.

Under the town's updated Long-Term Water Conservation Plan, outdoor irrigation is limited to two days per week, and automatic or hose-end sprinklers cannot run between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The days break down by address:

• Even-numbered addresses water on Tuesday and Friday.
• Odd-numbered addresses water on Wednesday and Saturday.
• Commercial properties, HOA common areas, and multi-family properties water on Monday and Thursday.

The plan is codified in the town's water conservation ordinance, which replaced the previous water conservation article in the town's code.

Not everything is restricted. Irrigation by hand-held hose, faucet-filled bucket, drip irrigation, or soaker hose is allowed at any time. Water collected through on-site rainwater harvesting or drawn from an on-site well carries the same flexibility. Foundation watering with a soaker hose on a Wednesday if you're odd-numbered? Fine.

Properties under development and new landscaping being established are exempt from the schedule until final irrigation review. If you've recently sodded or seeded, that exemption may apply — check with the town to confirm.

These restrictions can tighten further depending on drought conditions or water storage and pumping capacity. If that happens, the town will move into its Emergency Water Demand Management Plan and update its water conservation page.
