Flower Mound's Street Tax Renewal Is on the Ballot
Here's exactly what you're deciding and what happens either way.

FloMoBee covered this vote when it was first announced, but with early voting approaching, here's the full picture in one place.
The question on the ballot is narrow: should Flower Mound keep directing a quarter-cent of every sales-tax dollar to street repair and reconstruction for another four years? A yes vote keeps that dedicated slice in place — the town's 8.25 percent sales tax rate stays exactly where it is, unchanged. The only thing at stake is whether that portion of existing revenue remains earmarked for streets or flows back into the general fund.
That money pays for full-depth pavement and subgrade reconstruction, concrete panel replacements, asphalt milling and overlays, pothole patching, crack sealing, and snow and ice removal, among other work.
This is the fifth time Flower Mound residents have been asked this question. The quarter-cent sales tax dedicated to street maintenance first passed in 2007, carries a four-year term with the option to renew, and voters have reauthorized it multiple times since. The tax expires unless voters reauthorize it.
If the measure fails, the existing 0.25 percent sales tax will expire and the town will need to find other revenue sources for street maintenance and repair. The sales tax rate itself would drop by a quarter cent — but that also means the dedicated street funding would no longer be in place.
