iSmash Gets Its Permit — A Smash-Room and Splatter-Paint Venue Is Coming to The Marketplace

If you've ever wanted to smash a printer with a crowbar — legally, safely, with protective gear on — the nearest place to do that is about to be a lot closer to home.

Highland Village City Council signed off on a Conditional Use Permit, clearing the way for iSmash — a commercial indoor amusement concept — to open inside The Marketplace at Highland Village. The 4,900-square-foot lease space will include areas for splatter painting and smash rooms. The permitting hurdle is behind them. Buildout is next.

A smash room — also called a rage room — is a safe, supervised space where guests put on protective gear and smash things: glassware, electronics, printers, and more. Before anyone picks up a bat, iSmash walks guests through a safety orientation and suits them up with full protective gear — all inside a purpose-built room engineered to keep the destruction exactly where it belongs. The splatter paint side skews younger, making it a birthday-party destination as well as a perfectly legitimate Tuesday-night option for adults who had a rough week.

iSmash has been scaling its footprint across the country, and the Highland Village location will put the concept within a quick drive for anyone in Flower Mound or along the Lake Lewisville corridor.

The Marketplace at Highland Village is a power center anchored by Walmart, LA Fitness, TJ Maxx, and HomeGoods. iSmash fills a gap those tenants weren't touching: an indoor activity that gives families a reason to stay a couple of hours rather than run in and out.
