Lewisville ISD Earns CTE District of Distinction for the Third Year Running
The Career and Technical Association of Texas recognized LISD for the third consecutive year — and your kid in welding, healthcare, or IT is exactly why.

If you have a teenager at Flower Mound High, Hebron, Lewisville, Marcus, or The Colony wondering whether a welding certificate or a nursing-assistant program is worth their time, the short answer just got a little louder.
For the third year in a row, the Career and Technical Association of Texas has recognized Lewisville ISD with its Career and Technical Education District of Distinction award.
The District of Distinction program exists to identify school districts that are genuinely moving the needle: producing workforce-ready graduates, pushing CTE in new directions, and setting an example for what student success can look like when a community takes it seriously. One good year could be coincidence. Three in a row points to a system that knows what it's doing.
LISD operates two career centers: TECC | East and TECC | West, alongside CTE offerings at each of the district's five main high school campuses. All told, those career pathways reach about 13,000 students.
Some programs help students earn the certification and qualifications needed to enter the workforce immediately. Others give students hands-on experience in a field they plan to study in college. Both tracks count.

On the latest recognition, LISD's CTE director Dr. Kristin Petrunin said: "Earning the CTAT District of Distinction means Lewisville ISD has demonstrated exceptional commitment to preparing students for college and career success through high-quality CTE programs. It recognizes that LISD provides innovative learning opportunities, strong industry partnerships, and measurable student achievement in technical and academic skills."
No new funding or programs come attached to the award. This is a recognition of what's already running. But if you have a middle schooler trying to figure out what high school looks like, the infrastructure is there and has been externally vetted three years in a row.
