Lewisville SWAT Takes Man Into Custody After Predawn Domestic Shooting on Eastwood Place

A woman was shot in the early hours of Tuesday, Oct. 7, and the man suspected of shooting her spent part of that morning barricaded inside a nearby Lewisville home before SWAT officers took him into custody.

Officers were called to the 100 block of Eastwood Place at about 3:02 a.m. and found that a man had shot a woman he was in a dating relationship with. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Her condition has not been publicly released.

After the shooting, the suspect retreated to Ridgeway Circle — roughly 1.2 miles away — and locked himself inside a home in the 200 block of that street. Lewisville Police SWAT responded and took him into custody without incident. By 8:40 a.m., department spokeswoman Kaylin Cooney confirmed he was in custody.

Police arrested Pedro Antonio Gil Rodriguez, 29, and booked him into the Lewisville Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Those are accusations. Rodriguez is presumed innocent unless and until convicted.

No motive has been stated publicly. Lewisville Police say the investigation is ongoing and that additional information will be released when available.
