LISD Heads Into Wednesday's First Day With New Principals at Briarhill, Durham, Flower Mound High, and Four Elementary Schools

If your student walks into Flower Mound High, Briarhill, Durham, or one of four LISD elementary schools on Wednesday, a brand-new principal will be at the door. Seven campuses across the district are starting the year under new leadership — here's who they are and what you need to know before the first bell.

Flower Mound High School: Shannon Knowles

Knowles is not a stranger to the Jaguars. She previously served as associate principal at FMHS before leaving to lead Argyle High School, and now she's back. LISD announced her appointment on June 8. Families at the high school have probably seen her face before.

Briarhill Middle School: Meredith Fiaccone

Fiaccone has been an assistant principal at Briarhill since 2024, so students already know her. LISD announced her as principal on June 1. She worked across multiple LISD campuses in instructional and administrative roles before stepping into the top job. Internal promotion, not an outside hire.

Durham Middle School: John Engel

Engel is the only one in this group coming from outside the district. LISD announced him on June 8 alongside Knowles.

Four Elementary Campuses

LISD also named new principals at four elementary schools:

• Independence Elementary — Monica Koen
• Homestead Elementary — Vanessa Diglia
• Southridge Elementary — Clarence Scott
• Ethridge Elementary — Lisa Burleson
