If you have a student in Lewisville ISD, the next few months will quietly determine a lot about their school's budget, staffing, and programs. On Thursday, Oct. 15, the LISD Board of Trustees formally adopted the district's legislative priorities for the 90th Texas Legislature — the list of things the district will spend its political capital on in Austin.

Those priorities are now public. The full list lives at lisd.net/resources/community.

The district's announcement didn't reproduce the specific line items, so that page is your starting point if you want to know exactly what LISD plans to advocate for. School finance formulas, special education funding, career program grants, and facility dollars all flow from state action. The priorities tell you where leadership thinks the biggest gaps are.

The timeline is tight. The 90th Legislature convenes January 12, 2027, and the session ends May 31, 2027. Texas lawmakers meet for only 140 days every two years, which means whatever the district asks for in this window either gets done or waits until 2029. LISD serves campuses from Flower Mound to Lewisville to The Colony — a lot riding on five months in Austin.

Bill pre-filing opens Monday, November 9, 2026 — the first moment advocates can put language in front of lawmakers. The stretch between now and then is when community voices have the most room to shape what gets filed. If you want to weigh in with the district directly, contact information is available at lisd.net/resources/community. The priorities and your local representatives are both findable there as well.
