You have three days. That's it.

Monday, October 5 is the last day to register to vote in Denton County for the November 3, 2026 General Election. If your name isn't on the rolls by then, you won't be casting a ballot this cycle.

First-timers aren't the only ones who need to act. Already registered but moved last spring? Got married and changed your name? Your old registration won't cut it — you have to update it before Monday's deadline, even if you're already somewhere in the system.

Under Texas law, the registration deadline falls 30 days out from Election Day — no exceptions, no grace period. Monday is that cutoff, and once it passes, the county locks its voter rolls so it can run the election.

Registering online takes a few minutes. Go to votedenton.gov and follow the voter registration link. You'll need a Texas driver's license number, state ID number, or the last four digits of your Social Security number to complete an online application. You can also fill out a paper form, print and sign it, and mail it to the county voter registrar, or drop it off in person at the county elections office. Don't wait until Monday evening -- mail applications need a postmark by the deadline, and offices close.

Two deadlines, not one.

Once you're registered, a second clock starts. The last day for the Denton County Elections office to receive an application for a ballot by mail is Friday, October 23. That's a separate, later deadline -- and it's received, not postmarked, so build in extra time if you're going the mail route.

Early voting by personal appearance runs Monday, October 19 through Friday, October 30. Denton County registered voters may cast an early ballot at any early voting location in the county. Specific locations and hours are posted at votedenton.gov.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

Before Monday: go to votedenton.gov, confirm your registration is current and your address is right, and register if you haven't. Takes less time than waiting in line at Chick-fil-A on 2499.
