If you have a student at Byron Nelson, Eaton, or Northwest — or a kid heading into high school in the next few years — the board vote on Monday, Nov. 9, 2026 sets which campus they attend, possibly for their entire high school career.

The window for public input has closed. The third and final community meeting wrapped up Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Eaton High School. The Northwest ISD Board of Trustees votes on final boundary changes at their regular meeting Monday, Nov. 9, 2026. After that, the zones are locked in for the 2027-2028 school year.

Byron Nelson, Eaton, and Northwest high schools have all seen enrollment push up against — or past — capacity. The district is opening Davis High School in 2027 to ease the crowding, and to do that, trustees must draw a brand-new attendance zone from scratch and adjust the existing ones.

The biggest relief goes to Eaton. It is already operating above its designed capacity, its zone is expected to keep growing as new housing comes online, and Davis's opening will provide the most enrollment relief there.

Because Davis is a new campus, an attendance boundary must be created to populate it. The proposed map for Davis's zone would pull students from a set of existing elementary feeder areas on the district's proposed boundary map.

If your student is being rezoned between existing high schools rather than to Davis, there is a detail worth knowing before Nov. 9, 2026. The district plans to recommend that the board allow all current high school sophomores and juniors to remain at their current campus — meaning rising seniors, juniors, and sophomores would all have that option. Students who choose to stay would not be eligible for district-provided transportation.

Families of high school students affected by rezoning between existing schools will receive a form on Nov. 10 to indicate their intent to stay at their current campus. That form must be completed by Dec. 1.

The new boundaries are designed to remain in place for four years — so whatever trustees decide Monday, Nov. 9, 2026 is meant to carry families through their students' full high school careers without another redraw.

FloMoBee covered the second community input session and the broader timeline on Sunday, Oct. 4.

What to do now: An interactive map of the proposed boundaries is live at nisdtx.org/departments/facilities/attendance-boundaries/2027-2028-boundaries. Click the drop-down from the 2026-2027 boundaries to select the proposal, then type in your address to see where your home falls. Check it before the board votes Monday, Nov. 9, 2026.
