Twenty-Two Years of Running for Dorothy

Register before Halloween ends and you save five dollars. Wait until November and the price goes up. Dorothy's Dash turns 22 on Saturday, Nov. 7, and the clock is already running.

The race honors Dorothy Walkup, a Town of Flower Mound employee, an advocate, and a former track and field participant. The Town still describes her as "a friend, mentor, and shoulder to lean on." She died of Multiple Sclerosis on Nov. 16, 2004, after a seven-year fight with the disease. This is the race's 22nd year.

Dorothy's Dash, a 5K Run/Walk and Kid's K presented by Cafe Smile & Vitality Studio, takes place at Bakersfield Park, 1201 Duncan Lane. Net proceeds go to the Texas Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society in her honor.

The Price Goes Up Nov. 1

Through Oct. 31, the 5K is $30. On Nov. 1 it jumps to $35. The Kid's K follows the same pattern: $15 through Oct. 31, then $20 from Nov. 1 through race day.

Groups of ten or more can lock in $25 per person, but only through Oct. 31, and only by emailing Charon.Cheatham@FlowerMound.gov. That rate disappears when November arrives.

Online registration closes Monday, Nov. 2, at 11:59 p.m. After that, you can still register on-site at Bakersfield Park starting at 7 a.m. on race morning. You can also register in person now at the Community Activity Center, 1200 Gerault Road, if you'd rather skip the website.

Packet Pick-Up

Two windows before race day:

You can also grab your packet race morning at Bakersfield Park. On-site registration and chip pick-up open at 7 a.m.
