Street Tax Vote Arrives Tuesday — Council Also Meets Monday, Nov. 2

Two things are closing fast, and they're closing in order.

If you live in Flower Mound and drive its roads, this week hands you two chances to weigh in — one at a council meeting, one at the polls.

The Flower Mound Town Council meets Monday, Nov. 2, at Jody Smith Hall. Check flowermound.gov for the full agenda and confirmed start time before you head over.

The election is the other deadline. Proposition A asks voters whether to reauthorize the Dedicated Street Maintenance Sales Tax for another four years. Early voting closes Friday at 7pm, Oct. 30, but Election Day polls open Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Here is what a yes or no actually means for your street: a yes vote keeps Flower Mound's sales tax rate at 8.25 percent and continues funding into street repairs, reconstruction, and the crew that does the work. A no vote drops the rate to 8.0 percent, and the council would need to find another funding source for projects and personnel currently covered by the tax. The 2025 bond voters approved covers capital street reconstruction — not the day-to-day patching, overlays, and snow removal this sales tax funds.

The tax has been renewed by voters multiple times over the years. Projects it has supported include the Flower Mound Road concrete panel replacement and the Timber Creek Road panel replacement.

Denton County voters can cast ballots at their assigned polling locations Tuesday, Nov. 3. Tarrant County residents can use any Tarrant County site, with the Grapevine Public Library the closest option. Confirm your polling place at the relevant county elections office before heading out.
