The CAC Pool Goes to the Dogs on September 26 — and Spots Are Limited

If your dog has ever watched you come home from the CAC pool and looked personally offended, September 26 is the day to make it right.

Doggie Dive is Saturday, Sept. 26, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the CAC Outdoor Water Park, 1200 Gerault Rd. The format is come-and-go — the event runs all morning, so you show up whenever the window works for your schedule. No fixed time slot, no waiting in one long queue.

The pool belongs to the four-legged crowd that day — no human swimmers allowed, just dogs doing their thing while their owners watch from the deck and take approximately 400 photos.

The catch, and it's a real one: registration for each dog is required and spots are limited. There is no day-of sign-up. If spots fill before you get around to it, you're out until the next one. Register at flowermound.gov/Calendar.

One thing to have ready before you go: owners must be able to verify their dog has a current rabies vaccination. Full regulations on rabies verification and other considerations are listed on the registration page — check what documentation to bring so you're not turned away at the gate on Gerault.

This is one of the few chances each year for local dogs to use the outdoor pool before it closes for the season. The CAC Water Park on a late-September morning is about as good a setting as Flower Mound gets for letting a water-loving dog completely exhaust itself before noon.
