The Jaguars Had a Spring. Three UIL State Honors in One Season.
Track, academics, and softball all brought hardware home — not bad for a district in the middle of a budget conversation.

Your kid's school just finished one of the more decorated UIL seasons Flower Mound High School has seen in recent memory — and if you've been watching LISD work through facility closures and budget discussions this spring, that's worth sitting with for a minute.
The LISD Board of Trustees formally recognized the Jaguars at its June 8 meeting for three separate state-level accomplishments: UIL State Track & Field, UIL State Academics, and Girls Softball. Three different programs. Three different coaching staffs. One spring season.
On the track, Adeline Bennett won the UIL 6A Girls 1600m on May 24, continuing what MileSplit called Flower Mound's "UIL 6A stronghold in the 1600m." That kind of event dominance takes years to build. It's also quietly one of the harder things to maintain in a classification loaded with Dallas-area talent.
The academic team added to the pile. FMHS was recognized alongside Hebron and Marcus for UIL State Academics, meaning the school competed at the top of the state in both athletic and classroom arenas at the same time. That's not a coincidence. It's a culture.
The softball program earned board recognition after a playoff run that carried the Jaguars deep into the 6A Division 1 bracket — a tough bracket that included the eventual state champion Waco Midway.

None of this erases the harder conversations happening elsewhere in the district. LISD is managing real financial pressure: the same June 8 meeting that celebrated these athletes also approved negotiations to lease or sell three elementary school campuses. Budget reality and competitive excellence are living in the same zip code right now.
That's exactly why this matters to families weighing their options in a north DFW market full of private and charter alternatives. Parents aren't just asking about test scores or tax rates. They're asking whether a district can still develop kids at the highest level across more than one discipline. This spring, FMHS answered that pretty clearly.
Watch whether the track program can hold the 1600m line next year, and whether the academic team's depth survives senior class turnover. One strong spring is a moment. Two in a row starts to look like a program.
