The Lady Jaguars Have Made It to the UIL State Tournament Three Years in a Row

Most Texas high school golf programs make it to the UIL state tournament once, take a photo, and spend the next few years trying to get back. Flower Mound's girls program has done it three consecutive seasons now. That's the rarer thing.

The Lady Jaguars qualified again for the UIL Class 6A state tournament this spring, continuing a run that has cemented Flower Mound as one of the top girls golf programs in the state — for the third consecutive season.

Getting there once takes talent. Getting there three years running takes something harder to manufacture: a culture that reloads instead of just rebuilding. This year's team had to find its footing after the Lady Jaguars graduated three seniors from last season's lineup. They found it anyway.

Coach Grawunder hasn't let the streak become a sense of entitlement. "Golf is very challenging and sometimes highly difficult to maintain this level of consistency," Grawunder said. "You have to earn your spot out of district and regionals. Nobody is entitled to making it to state just because we have done it the last three years."

That attitude matters. Because the pressure to repeat isn't nothing. It lives in every district round, every regional qualifier, and every conversation between a coach and a sophomore who hasn't been through it yet.

One player who has anchored that consistency is sophomore Lois Lee, who already owns two state tournament appearances. Lee helped lead this year's team after the seniors graduated, and began playing golf at age 10 after moving from California. She's developed quickly enough to be one of the program's most reliable contributors at 16. At the 2026 regional tournament, Lee shot a 72 — good enough to help punch the team's ticket to state again.

"I think making it to state has become an expectation for Flower Mound golf because of the strong standard the program has built," Lee said. That's the line worth reading twice. When a 16-year-old talks about a program's standard rather than a single season's outcome, something real has been built here.

Junior AJ Gonyeau offered a similar read. "I am extremely proud of how our team competed at state," Gonyeau said. "Going to the 6A State Tournament three times in a row is such an incredible achievement, and I am super happy and proud of our team."

Junior Lydia Berge is already looking past the celebration. "It will take a lot of practice and dedication to medal or win a state championship," Berge said. The program has reached the stage where qualifying isn't the finish line anymore. It's the baseline.

That's the real story. Three straight trips to the biggest stage in Texas high school golf means this program has built more than a roster. It has built a pipeline, a set of expectations, and a reason for junior golfers in the Lewisville ISD to see Flower Mound as a destination. Whether that translates into a team medal or a title next spring is an open question. But the foundation is real, and anyone paying attention to where youth golf talent in north Denton County ends up should be watching.
