The Library Is Growing Its First Learning Garden — Kids Ages 5–9 Can Join Tuesday

If you've got a kid between 5 and 9 who likes to dig in the dirt, Tuesday afternoon has something for you.

The Flower Mound Public Library's Budding Botanists program is back, and this season has a specific goal: preparing the inaugural Library Learning Garden. Kids aren't just learning about plants in the abstract. They're building the thing.

The September session runs Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 4–5:30 p.m. at the library at 3030 Broadmoor Ln.

Weather permitting, sessions take place on the youth area outdoor reading patio. If the weather turns, they move inside to the south entrance lobby.

No advance registration, but you do need to stop by the Children's Desk before the program starts to pick up an entry ticket. Supplies are limited, so get there with a few minutes to spare.

The program is designed for children ages 5–9, though families are welcome. It's free. Dress them in something you don't mind getting dirty.

The library on Broadmoor has offered gardening programming for adults for years, so a dedicated kids' garden built and tended by the youngest patrons is a natural next step. Check the library's calendar at flowermound.gov for future monthly sessions as they're posted.
