The Library Turns 40 — and Wants Your Bookmark Design by September 30

Three weeks. That's what stands between your sketch and a bookmark pressed into library books all over Flower Mound.

The Flower Mound Public Library is marking its 40th anniversary with a Bookmark Design Contest, and the door is wide open. Entries are divided into three age categories: kids (0–10), teens (11–17), and adults (18+). No artistic pedigree required. A kid who just discovered colored pencils is as welcome as a graphic designer.

Design themes can include reading, books, libraries, the library's 40th anniversary, or an '80s twist. That last one is genuinely fun. The library opened in November 1985, and the original building was a less than 2,000-square-foot house off Churchill Drive near Westchester Park. A lot has changed since then.

Winning designs will be professionally printed and distributed in library books throughout the community — and whoever takes the top spot in their category will be honored at the anniversary celebration in November. Go ahead and enter.

The hard deadline: submissions must be turned in to the Information Desk at the library, 3030 Broadmoor Ln., by 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30.
