The Little Houses From May's Arts Festival Are Up at the CAC — Through the End of August

If you painted one of those little wooden houses at the Arts Festival back in May, your work is on the wall right now — literally.

The interactive Home Is Where the Art Is project came together during the 2026 Arts Festival, when residents of all ages painted small wooden houses, each one a personal take on what home looks like. Together they formed a single community installation, which the town then mounted at the Community Activity Center on Gerault Road.

Here's what matters this week: the installation is up at the CAC at 1200 Gerault Rd., and August is almost gone. You have days, not weeks.

The Flower Mound Arts Festival ran on Saturday, May 9. The wooden-house project was one of the hands-on community pieces woven into the day — the kind where a five-year-old and a sixty-five-year-old end up at the same table with a paintbrush.

No admission. No reservation. Check the CAC's current hours at 1200 Gerault Rd. before you go, and walk in during any open window — the installation is there.

If you're already a regular at the CAC — for the pool, the fitness floor, a class — you may have passed it without realizing it was made by your neighbors. Now you know what you're looking at.
