The Right-Turn Lane at Garden Ridge and Flower Mound Road Is Closed Through About October 20

If Garden Ridge Boulevard is part of your morning or afternoon routine, plan on a different path for the next week or so.

A 12-inch water main running beneath the Garden Ridge Boulevard and FM 3040 (Flower Mound Road) intersection has failed, and Flower Mound Public Works crews moved in on an emergency basis to fix it. The break was unscheduled, and the traffic squeeze came with it.

Two things are closed right now. The westbound right-turn lane from Flower Mound Road onto northbound Garden Ridge Boulevard is shut down. On Garden Ridge itself, all northbound lanes between Flower Mound Road and Lancashire Drive are closed — one northbound lane has shifted onto a southbound lane, leaving one lane open in each direction.

That's a tight corridor on a road that sees real volume at peak hours. Heading north on Garden Ridge, expect merging delays. If that right turn off Flower Mound Road is part of your routine, you'll need a different move until repairs wrap up.

Work started October 13. Repairs are expected to take five to seven days, which puts the window at roughly October 20. Emergency timelines shift with weather and what crews find underground, so plan for the full seven days and treat anything earlier as a bonus.

The town is asking drivers to avoid this intersection if possible while work is underway. No alternate route has been officially designated, but FM 2499 to the east and Long Prairie Road to the west are the logical detour spines depending on where you're headed.
