If you've got a kid who goes wide-eyed at a fire truck, clear your Thursday afternoon.

The Town of Flower Mound is hosting its annual Truck Rodeo on Thursday, September 24, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the north parking lot of the Flower Mound Public Library at 3030 Broadmoor Ln. FMPD, FMFD, Animal Services, Parks and Recreation, and Public Works are all rolling something out — real equipment the town uses every day, close enough to touch.

No tickets. No registration form to fill out the night before. The event is open to kids of all ages and you don't need to sign up. Just show up.

For a lot of kids, the difference between watching a ladder truck roll past on the road and actually standing next to one is the whole thing. This is that.

One note worth keeping in mind: if the event is canceled due to inclement weather, it will not be rescheduled. September afternoons in North Texas can turn fast, so check the Town's social channels before you load everyone in the car.
