The World Cup Is Literally Down the Road. Here's How to Still Get In.
AT&T Stadium is hosting more World Cup matches than any venue on earth — and Flower Mound is 23 miles away.

You don't have to fly to Brazil or book a hotel in another country. The biggest soccer tournament in history is happening half an hour from your driveway — and there are still matches left.
AT&T Stadium in Arlington is hosting nine World Cup matches total: five group-stage games between June 14 and 27, two Round of 32 matches on June 30 and July 3, a Round of 16 on July 6, and a semifinal on July 14. That's more matches than any other venue in the tournament. By today — Saturday, June 20 — two group-stage matches have already been played there. Three more are still ahead.
The next one lands fast. Argentina vs. Austria kicks off Monday, June 22 at noon CT. Then Japan vs. Sweden on June 25, and Jordan vs. Argentina on June 27. After that, four knockout-round games carry the schedule through mid-July. If your family has a kid in rec soccer who's been watching highlights on a phone screen, this is the moment you stop scrolling and start planning.
The driving distance from Flower Mound to AT&T Stadium is 23 miles — about 36 minutes under normal conditions. Keyword: normal. Game days in Arlington will not be normal.
Tickets
The tournament kicked off June 11, and FIFA's Last-Minute Sales phase — the final official window — has been live since April 1 and runs through the Final on July 19. Tickets remain available on FIFA.com and across resale platforms. The resale market softened sharply in the weeks before kickoff: the cheapest group-stage resale tickets fell from around $730 in April to under $200 by June, with some seats showing up from roughly $167. That's the good news. FIFA is using dynamic pricing, which means prices rise and fall with demand rather than staying fixed — so an Argentina match will not sit at $167 for long. There is only one official seller: FIFA, at FIFA.com/tickets. Anything bought elsewhere carries risk, so use FIFA.com/tickets for primary sales and its official resale platform for anything secondhand.
Getting There
This is the part that will bite you if you don't think about it. There is no direct rail connection to AT&T Stadium; Arlington sits between Dallas and Fort Worth, and post-match rideshare surges around the stadium are extreme. Driving is the most practical option for most Flower Mound families — you're already in a car town — but the preparation matters. Expect heavy inbound traffic along Stadium Drive and Collins Street starting three hours before kickoff. The best arrival window is two to two-and-a-half hours early.
Parking is not the free-for-all you're used to at a Cowboys game. FIFA has banned tailgating in official lots, eliminated all cash payments, and relocated the rideshare zones, with official passes starting at $125 and requiring a match ticket just to buy. Plan for that cost before you budget the day.
If you'd rather skip the driving entirely, there's a train option — sort of. The Trinity Railway Express runs to CentrePort/DFW Airport Station north of the stadium, where complimentary charter buses are available for the trip to the venue and the return. That's a legitimate move if you can park near a TRE station.
The Stakes
This tournament runs in North Texas once in most people's lifetimes. The remaining AT&T Stadium matches — including a semifinal on July 14 — will only get harder to ticket and harder to park for as the bracket narrows. Group-stage games are the accessible entry point. Miss that window and the next option is a semifinal, which is a different price category entirely.
If your household is on the fence: the fence has an expiration date.
