Tonight and Wednesday Are Your Two Shots to Weigh In on Which High School Your Teen Attends Starting 2027
Northwest ISD's boundary meetings are live this week — the board votes November 9, and that's the finish line.

If your family is zoned to Byron Nelson, Northwest, or Eaton right now, this week is the one that matters. Northwest ISD is holding its first two of three public input sessions on the proposed 2027–2028 high school attendance boundaries — and both happen before Friday.
FloMoBee covered the kickoff of this process last month, when the district revealed the Davis Diamondbacks mascot and the rezoning timeline, and again yesterday ahead of tonight's session. Here's where things stand.
Tonight, Monday, October 5 — Byron Nelson High School, Lecture Hall, 6 p.m. The focus is students proposed to move from Northwest High School to Byron Nelson, or from Byron Nelson to Davis. Wednesday, October 7 — Northwest High School, Cafeteria, 6 p.m. This one covers students proposed to rezone from Northwest to Byron Nelson or Eaton. Tuesday, October 20 — Eaton High School, Lecture Hall. That session addresses the proposed Davis attendance zone and any students moving from Northwest to Eaton. Each meeting runs from 6 to 7 p.m., though district leaders will stay on site for additional questions.
Why is any of this happening? Capacity. All three existing high schools are at or nearing their limits, with Eaton already over capacity. Eaton will receive the most relief when Davis opens. Northwest High School is projected to exceed capacity next year as well.
Davis High School — named for J. Fred Davis Jr. — is expected to start welcoming students in August 2027. Because it's a brand-new campus, an attendance boundary has to be drawn from scratch.
The proposed maps are already public. On the district's boundary page, click the drop-down arrow from the 2026–2027 boundaries to select next year's proposal, then type in your address to see where your home falls.
A few things worth knowing before you go. Students entering their senior year have the right to stay at their current campus under district regulations. The district is also recommending that current juniors and sophomores — not just seniors — be allowed to remain at their current high school if they're rezoned between existing campuses. Students who choose to stay at their current campus will not receive district-provided transportation. Students proposed to move to Davis have a narrower set of opt-out options: they can stay at their current school only if they're enrolled in an academy there, are on a staff transfer, or have a rising junior sibling remaining at that school.
Can't make a meeting? Families can email feedback to onthegrow@nisdtx.org, and all comments are logged for the boundary committee to review.
After the public sessions close, the District Attendance Boundary Team will meet on October 27 before the boundaries go before trustees for a vote in November. The board vote is set for Monday, November 9. The proposed maps live at nisdtx.org/departments/facilities/attendance-boundaries/2027-2028-boundaries. Check your address before tonight.
