Trotter Park Is Heading to Contractors — Here's What 13 Acres Near Town Lake Is Getting

If you've wondered when that 13-acre patch near Town Lake along Trotter Lane is actually going to become a park, the project is now moving from drawings to contractors.

The 13.11-acre site will get two tennis courts, twelve pickleball courts, a basketball court, a playground, a plaza area, native landscaping, parking, a restroom building, soft-surface and concrete trails, and a detention pond — all part of the master plan the town approved in July 2024. Twelve public pickleball courts in one place will make Trotter one of the better setups in this part of Denton County.

Three funding sources cover the project: the Park Development Fund, Dedicated Sales Tax, and a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department grant. The state contributed $750,000. That grant comes with a permanent condition — the town must keep Trotter Park publicly accessible, properly maintained, and designated as parkland in perpetuity.
