Two Days a Week — and UTRWD Will Pay You to Stick to the Schedule

Check the last digit of your house number. That one number tells you everything about when you can run the sprinklers.

Residential addresses ending in an even number water on Tuesday and Friday. Odd numbers get Wednesday and Saturday. Commercial properties, HOA common areas, and multi-family buildings water on Monday and Thursday. The schedule runs under the Town of Flower Mound's Long-Term Water Conservation Plan. One more rule layered on top of the day assignment: automatic irrigation systems and hose-end sprinklers must be shut off from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Prefer to skip the timer altogether? You've got options. Watering by hand-held hose, faucet-filled bucket, drip irrigation, collected rainwater, or an on-site well is permitted any time of day.

Here's the part worth acting on before the end of September. The Give A Drip campaign runs through September 2026, and every eligible entrant gets free swag — one per household — plus an entry in a drawing. Two prizes are on the table: a smart irrigation controller (two available) or a $500 gift card redeemable at a local garden center. The pledge itself is simple: commit to watering no more than twice per week, stay out of the 10 a.m.–6 p.m. window, and check your irrigation system regularly for leaks or misaligned heads.

UTRWD Executive Director Larry Patterson explained the unusual nature of the outreach to Community Impact: "We're a wholesaler, so we normally don't work with the general public; this is a unique circumstance for us."

Look up your watering days by address at flowermound.gov/621/Water-Conservation, then head to utrwd.com/saving-water/save-outdoors/give-a-drip/ to take the pledge. You must be 18 or older and live within the UTRWD service area to be eligible for the drawing. If you're already watering on your assigned days, you qualify. Two minutes to enter. September 30 is the deadline.
