Wednesday's Northwest High Meeting Is Your Window Into the Davis High Boundary Debate

If your teen is zoned to Northwest High School, this Wednesday matters.

Northwest ISD is holding the second of three community input sessions on the proposed 2027-2028 high school attendance boundaries. The meeting is Wednesday, October 7, at 6 p.m. in Northwest High School's cafeteria, and it focuses specifically on boundary adjustments for students proposed to be rezoned from Northwest to Byron Nelson High School or Eaton High School. Here's what's driving the redraw. All three of Northwest ISD's existing comprehensive high schools — Byron Nelson, Eaton, and Northwest — are facing enrollment pressure. Eaton's attendance zone is expected to keep growing as new housing comes online, and Davis High School's opening is projected to bring enrollment relief across the district.

Davis High School is expected to open in August 2027. Because it's a brand-new campus, an attendance boundary has to be drawn to populate it. Per district policy, Davis will open with freshmen and sophomores, adding one grade level each year after that.

The third and final public session is Tuesday, October 20, at Eaton High School's Lecture Hall. That one covers the proposed Davis attendance zone and any students proposed to move from Northwest to Eaton.

Once those input sessions close, the district meets with the District Attendance Boundary Team on October 27. The boundaries then go before trustees for a vote, with a final school board decision expected before Thanksgiving break.
