Long Prairie and Flower Mound Road Is Under Construction — Weekday Lane Closures Run Through August 2027

If your commute runs through the Long Prairie Road and Flower Mound Road intersection, your route just got more complicated for the next two years. This is not a quick patch. It's a full rebuild, and it runs through August 2027.

The Town confirmed construction is underway at FM 2499 (Long Prairie Road) and FM 3040 (Flower Mound Road). Throughout the life of the project, expect lane closures Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. That window covers the morning school run, the lunch rush, and most of the standard workday.

When it's done, the intersection will look nothing like it does now. Each direction of travel will have dual left-turn lanes, three through lanes, and a dedicated right-turn lane. A third through lane will also be added along eastbound FM 3040.

The scope also includes new traffic signals and ADA ramps, along with straightened lane and crosswalk geometry throughout the intersection. New signals, new ramps, new geometry — rebuilt from the ground up.

If your commute runs through that intersection between 9 and 3, plan your alternate route before you need it.
