U.S. 380's $160.6 Million Overhaul Is Done. Here's What the Road Looks Like Now.

If you've been grinding through construction barrels on U.S. 380, you can finally exhale.

Denton County held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Braswell High School marking the official completion of the U.S. 380 Improvement Project — a job that came in at $160.6 million. More than seven years of lane closures, traffic shifts, and orange barrels on one of the region's busiest east-west corridors. All of it now behind you.

The project widened the road, added raised medians with left and right turn lanes, and built grade separations at major crossings. Improvements run from Loop 288 to west of County Road 26 at the Collin County line. That is a long stretch, and it is fully open.

For Flower Mound and southern Denton County residents, U.S. 380 connects to I-35E, to the broader Denton County network, and to the towns strung along the corridor. The grade separations matter most here. Where traffic used to stack waiting for cross-street signals, it now flows through. Your mental map of which route is fastest will need some updating as drivers discover the changes and patterns settle.
